Things to Do in Florida Part 2

The Best Parks in South Florida

The following are some of the best parks to visit in South Flordia according to Trip Advisor.

Mallory Square
400 Wall St, Key West, FL 33040-6633
Website: Click Here

The following review comes courtsey of Lynn, from Manassas. “Nice…no ships docked, so view of sunset was in full sight. you can check docking schedule or ask your hotel. As you read in other reviews, get their early. some street performers start before sunset but it is hot while you wait in the sun. About 40 minutes before the sunset folks swarming Mallory Square make their way to the edge of the pier for the view. Gets crowded. you can shop and visit bars while waiting. clean area good people all around. paid parking lot available, but pan handlers will beg for money if they catch you in parking lot. The one guy that approached us was mouthy.

Blue Spring State Park
2100 W French Ave, Orange City, FL 32763-9501
Website: Click Here

This is a review and experience of Rod from DeLand, Florida. “Want to see Manatees… As our Florida temps have been dropping the Manatees come to the Springs in packs. My wife and went early and it was so cool watching them swim up toward the opening of the spring.” Rod continues by saying, “We counted over 300 Manatees, this was so relaxing and pictures couldn’t do it justice. Once they were at the point the water is coming out of the ground they became more playful and it was amazing. I could have watched all day.”

Siesta Beach
948 Beach Road, Siesta Key, FL 34242-2174
Website: NONE

Pmlarson22 from Lakeville, Minnesota, talks about their experience when they visited Siesta Beach. The started by saying, “Wow! You won’t believe it until you see it!” The they go on, “This is a beautiful beach. It has been high in world rankings for good reason. I was there on a hazy day and it was eerily beautiful. Haze burned off later in the day. Although it was a little chilly, I couldn’t resist a dip in the Gulf. Freshwater outdoor showers to rinse off. Friendly volunteers, decent restrooms. Not very crowded in January.

South Pointe Park
1 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33139-7323

Steve from Miami talks about his visit to South Pointe Park, South Florida.”Not big, but very attractive and user friendly.” Steve goes onto say, “South Pointe Park is not very big, but what it has is great – great views of the beach, the port of Miami, downtown and, of course, the ocean. The design is very creative… great for exercising, riding, taking photos, walking out on the pier, getting a smoothy and having a nice lunch at Smith & Wollensky.

Things to Do in Florida Part 1

Why you would be stuck for things to do in South Florida is beyond me as there is SO much to do! So, having been asked this question many times, I thought it was about time I dusted down the keyboard, flexed my fingers, and start bashing the keys… So, here we go.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (Orlando)

6000 Universal Boulevard, Orlando, FL 32819-7640

Christine from the UK gives a brief review of her experience at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter “AMAZING! I’m not the biggest Harry Potter fan but even i know that this place is amazing. The attention to detail is second to none. The Hogwarts Express from ‘King’s Cross Station’ to ‘Hogsmeade’ was an genius idea and the dragon on top of Gringotts is particularly amazing when it breathes fire!

Universal’s Islands of Adventure (Orlando)

6000 Universal Blvd, Universal Orlando, Orlando, FL 32819

The following review is written by Gemma from Glasgow in the UK (seems to be a lot of reviews from Brits!),. She starts of “Best Theme Park Ever!” And continues with, “I have just returned from my 7th trip to universal and myself and my family still adore it! Spider man and the Hulk rides never ever get old. My mum is so obsessed with the hulk that she went on it every day and it never gets old. The new kong ride is brilliant and all the old classics are just as fab as ever. On our last day, my fiance and I were walking through the fast past line for the Spiderman and seen Spiderman, reading the newspaper which really made our last day, it was amazing. The toon lagoon is also amazing and Ripsaw falls is legendary in our family but be prepared to be soaked!” Gemma finished by saying, “Loved meeting all the classic characters such as Betty Boop also and it is great that they keep those classic characters as well as introducing the new ones. Can’t wait for our next trip back!

Discovery Cove

6000 Discovery Cove Way, Orlando, FL 32821-6000

Sharon from Taylorsville, Utah, talks about her experience at Discovery Cove, “We had a great time when we visited in January 2014. it was a little cold, but not at all crowded. We did a swim with the dolphins and that was really cold, but it was January, so I’m not sure what the water temp is in other months. We did the underwater walk, and that was fun too. One thing I thought was that they should have a price for people who don’t drink alcohol, but the lunch was good lots of variety. It really was January of 2014 when we went , but it only goes back to Dec 16 so I put that, but it was Jan. 14 when we went.

National Naval Aviation Museum

1750 Radford Blvd, Pensacola, FL 32508, USA

Thomas from Atoka, Tennessee, gives his thoughts about his visit to the National Naval Aviation Museum, “Better every year. I’ve been coming here since the 1970’s and it gets better every time I visit. Just by sheer luck I went on a Blue Angels practice day this last time and despite the long line to get onto the base, it was still pretty awesome. To see the historical aircraft, many of which are the only examples in existence, was a thrill. I recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Magic Kingdom Park

3111 World Drive, Orlando, FL 32830

This is review (1 from over 3,300 pages of reviews!) comes from Wayne from Sydney, Australia”Magicical! Stetson Mansion

1031 Camphor Ln, DeLand, FL 32720-5003

A brief but straight to the point review by tinkersmoms from Port Saint Lucie, Florida, “Happy and bright!!!!!!! Beautiful decorations!!! Beautiful mansion!!! Got to meet the owner. A little out of the way to get to but well worth the trip.

Cirque du Soleil® La Nouba™

1478 Buena Vista Dr, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32821, USA

The following experience comes from Anne from Alexandria, “A great night out! My boyfriend and I went here last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have seen Cirque du Soleil a lot and he has seen one other show. This was not my favorite one but I definitely enjoyed it. I am especially happy we saw it since they just said that they were closing at the end of the year. If you are interested do not get the tickets ahead of time. Go the day that you are interested and you can get discounted tickets.

McCarthy’s Wildlife Sanctuary

12943 61st St N, West Palm Beach, FL 33412, USA

EM H gives his account and review about his trip to McCarthy’s Wildlife Sanctuary. He starts with, “An AWESOME Private Wild Animal Sanctuary!” He then continues by saying, “Our tour guide was Tori, she was friendly, fun, knowledgeable and VERY enthusiastic. She has a clear love of the animals she works with and a want to share that adoration with those who take the tour. The grounds are very nice and well kept. The animals are healthy and happy and very well cared for by their handlers, it shows in their body language and reactions. My wife and I went on Halloween and many of the animals still had their pumpkins. :)” EM continues with his review, “The tour took about 2 hours and was at a good pace, Tori tried to get as many of the animals (especially the big cats) up as close to the fronts of their habitats as possible. She gave us a lot of information on the animals, both general breed info and specifics about the individuals. There was plenty of time for pictures and questions. All in all it was fun and informative, relaxed, but not too slow or boring. ** Note: My wife, me and another guest as well as our guide were a little too close to one of the male tigers and got “sprayed”… so that’s a thing to keep in mind as a possibility.
